There are a number of areas you can serve in. If you’d like to find out more, select the team you’re interested in below.

Kids
  • Kids Church runs on a Sunday morning at the 10.45 service. In the team there are different roles from leading a room, to supporting,  There are four different age groups ranging from 1 year olds to 11 year olds.  Safeguarding, DBS and References needed to be on this team.

  • Youth runs on Wednesday evenings and Sunday mornings for two different age groups, with our new Youth Football ministry happening on Monday evenings. We hang out with our wonderful young people and love helping them to know more about Jesus!

Worship
  • The Worship Team leads all music across our three Sunday services, as well as other special events throughout the year. We're currently welcoming both contemporary and classical musicians who are able to play to a high and confident level. Entry is based on a friendly, low pressure audition to get a sense of fit and ability.

  • The tech team runs the audio and visuals at our Sunday services, as well as various special events throughout the year. Full training is provided for all volunteers, so no prior experience is required.

Photography
  • The photography team takes photos at all our Sunday services as well as other events, for use on social media, the website, and other content we publish. Training and all equipment are provided.

Welcome
  • Extending a warm welcome to everyone at our services on a Sunday is a key part of who we are. We love to be there with big smiles on our faces as people arrive to enable them to feel relaxed and welcomed.

  • We love to offer refreshments at our Sunday services. The Hospitality team sets up, serves hot and cold drinks and tidies away either between the two morning services, after the 10.45am service or before the 6pm service.

Prayer Ministry
  • At St Stephen’s, we have an amazing and well-trained Prayer Ministry Team available to offer prayer every week at all three Sunday services. Training is provided for all volunteers.

Reading
  • We are always on the look out for more people to read the scripture before the talk at any of our Sunday services.

Prayer
  • We offer the intercessory prayers during our morning Sunday services.

Seniors
  • Seniors Ministry runs gatherings at church and local care homes that help older people connect with God and other people; from Monday Lunches and worship services to Bible Studies and exercise.

Meal Train
  • The Meal Train team make and deliver a simple homemade meal for people we would like to bless in times of need, usually new parents or people convalescing after illness. You don’t need to be a great cook just as long as it’s homemade and served with love!

Drop In
  • Drop In ministry offers a hot meal, connection and community to a wide variety of guests, many of whom face challenges associated with poverty, isolation and addiction. Drop In is run by volunteers, most of whom are members of St Stephen’s and our Christian faith plays an integral part of what we offer.

Alpha
  • With Alpha being run nearly every term, we love to have amazing people who love to host, engage, and lead on our alpha teams.

Families Midweek
  • The families midweek team supports our Refresh and Little Acorns midweek pre-school gatherings for parents and carers and their little ones. We provide a welcoming space for the community, introducing adults to faith through serving refreshments and friendly conversation as well as engaging activities for toddlers.

  • The gardening volunteer team at St Stephen’s helps care for the church grounds, keeping them welcoming and beautiful year-round. From planting and pruning to weeding and general tidy-ups, we work together in a friendly, relaxed way—no experience needed, just enthusiasm!
