Gas Works // Richmond Road

Null

From Monday 25 March work will be commencing on Richmond Road to upgrade the ageing gas mains. This is likely to disrupt traffic for approximately an 8-week period. Due to a number of parties being involved in the organisation of the works (including contractors and TfL) there are some details we won’t know until they actually happen but this is what we know so far:

The St Stephen’s Gardens junction will be closed for the duration of the works.

A southbound closure from the traffic lights at the St Margaret’s Road junction will be in place – that is for traffic travelling from Richmond towards Twickenham.

Traffic will be diverted along St Margaret’s Road, onto the A316 Chertsey Road, then onto the A310 London Road and finally Arragon Road.

This will include some bus stop closures or relocations, most likely affecting the St Stephen’s Church bus stops.

There will be some parking suspensions in place on Crown Road to allow diversions for local buses.

We have been assured that access to the Crossway car park will not be affected for the duration of the works.

UPDATE…

Richmond Road is now fully open and all bus stops are in action. The St Stephen’s Gardens/Richmond Road junction remains closed.

We aim to keep this information as up to date as possible, so please continue to check back throughout the period of the works. If you wish to find out more, please visit www.richmond.gov.uk/major_gas_works_richmond_road
