Sunday and midweek services are a key part of life at St Stephen’s. We believe that God transforms our lives step-by-step as we gather together to worship, pray, hear from God’s Word and respond to his Spirit. Our three Sunday services aim to cater for all ages and have different styles of worship. After all of our services there are opportunities to receive prayer ministry.

We welcome Christian believers from all denominations to participate in Holy Communion, where we receive bread and wine to remember that Jesus gave his life for us so that we might know fullness of life though him.

9.00 am service

This follows a more traditional liturgy than our other services, making use of hymns, classical music, contemporary worship and time for quiet reflection. Holy Communion takes place on the first, third and fifth Sundays of the month and refreshments are served after the service.

10.30am service

This is an informal, friendly service starting with coffee and pastries, popular with young families. It is usually the ‘busiest’ of our Sunday services, with Kids Church for 1-11s and Younger Youth for 11-14s. For those with under 1s we have a comfy area in church where individuals can worship alongside their little ones as well as separate space where the service can be followed from a relay screen where infants are free to roam and make a little more noise.

From time to time we have an All Age service – where all ages stay in the church building throughout – with a theme and style that is accessible for children. The 10.30am service usually ends around 12.00pm and Holy Communion takes place on the second Sunday of the month.

6pm service

This is an informal, contemporary service, popular with all ages and consciously aiming to engage with the emerging generation. Worship is led by a band and we make use of multi-media. Tea and coffee is served at the end of the service and Holy Communion takes place on the fourth Sunday of the month.

Midweek services

Service of Healing and Encouragement | Centenary Room | 10.30am to 12pm | 2nd and 4th Thursday

This is a reflective service of healing and encouragement, with the opportunity for prayer ministry. We celebrate Holy Communion on the fourth Thursday of the month.

Seasonal services

We also have a number of specific services at different times of the year including; the Service of Light, where we remember those we love who have died, Christingle and Carol services during Advent and meditative services during Holy Week.
